PROGRESS REPORT
The progress on my Enchanted Forest Gnomes has been slow - I think partly because I wasn’t in love with the sketches. So I re-did them and now I’m feeling enthusiastic about finishing. This song is helping, too:

a peek at the typical process I’ve been using. The sketches are scanned and then live traced using a preset — then a color layer is added underneath. I either use the pen tool or the blob brush to lay down flat colors. I may add a shadow layer set to multiply.
Finally I will save a copy called “motifs” where I will group linework and color for each individual motif together. I’ve been enjoying this process a lot, usually listening to music or an old favorite t.v. show while finishing up the motifs.
